Looking at Clouds Listen

The planet she comes from is so far away
And nothing he said could persuade her to stay.
We make up our stories by looking at clouds
And nobody's willing to say it out loud
'Cause they don't think very much about it.

"I'll build you a castle. I'll give you a room."
He vowed as she whistled an alien tune.
"You're wasting your time," she said, "keeping me here.
I'll be on a spaceship in less than a year
And I won't think very much about it."

"I deserve an answer, please," he said, "Geez,
From down here on my knees, I can see
That you're not going to spell it out for me.
I've been living in a haze in many ways.
I've seen better days. I went through quite a phase
Surrounded by praise and by glory.
And what I know, for what it's worth
Is you get hurt jumping off the end of the earth
And it's never the end of the story."

"I'll stay here a while," she said, "if you so wish."
He sighed with relief and he gave her a kiss.
We make up our stories by looking at clouds
And nobody bothers to say it out loud
'Cause they don't think very much about it.
